- Embassy of Kazakhstan in Washington, D.C.
- The United States of America became the first country to have recognized the independence of the Republic Kazakhstan and to have established the diplomatic relations with Kazakhstan on December 26, 1991. Both the American Embassy in Kazakhstan and Embassy of Kazakhstan in Washington, D.C., were opened in 1992.

- The U.S. Embassy is still located in Almaty, the largest city and former capital. Americans are encouraged to register at the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Almaty and obtain updated information on travel and security in Kazakhstan. Registration allows for quicker replacement of a lost or stolen passport, as well as contact in the case of an emergency.
